![]() PATRICE KING SWARTOUT, President Theta 1976 BS 1978; MA 1983 Career: I have worked for many years as a psychologist in the public and private sectors. More recently, I have been using my knowledge and skills in a wide variety of volunteer positions as well. Best AXO Memory: My many wonderful memories include serving as Chapter President, the talks, laughs and friendships made at 1212 Hill, and the party where I met my husband. Today: I am married to Bernie and we have 3 'post college' daughters. We love living in Ann Arbor! KRISTEN KRUEGER-KUCH, Vice President Theta 1987 BA OBHRM 1990; MHR 1993 (University of South Carolina) Career: I have worked for many years in the field of Human Resources, helping corporations and business ventures attract the talent they need for their success. Best AXO Memory: My fondest memory was making the University smaller by meeting women with whom I shared much in common. Today: I am a mother to a middle school-age boy. I enjoy volunteering at his school. Being back in Ann Arbor after college opens up a whole different side of life in this town. I recently re-entered the workforce and have confirmed my love for my chosen career-- recruiting. AMY SHELDON CELL, Treasurer Theta 1987 BBA 1991; MBA 1995 Career: I have worked for many years in the field of Talent Enhancement, helping corporations and business ventures attract and retain the competitive human resources they need for success. I also have created career counseling programs and resources for high school students. Best AXO Memory: One of my fondest memories was the friendliness and instant feeling of sisterhood during our first bid night gathering. Today: I am still passionate about talent attraction, retention and development. I currently lead a talent consulting and recruiting firm to help employers and communities solve their talent challenges through innovative programs and approaches. LORI NOVAK KINTZ, Secretary Theta 1976 BA 1979; MSW 1980 Career: I have worked in health care marketing and communications for 25+ years in the private sector, and in the corporate and consulting arenas. Today, I use my public relations skills to help people access health information and make healthy choices. I also assist high school seniors with their essay applications for college through MyEssayCoach. Best AXO Memory: We lived in a 12-bed dormer on the 3rd floor and shared a large study suite. It was fun being a group and getting to know everyone as roommates. Today: I am a wife and mom of 2 teens in Ann Arbor. Raising a family in Ann Arbor is the best! After that, I was a stay at home mom, school and community volunteer, and a part time sales secretary in a real estate office. Best AXO Memory: I loved living and learning with my "sisters," many of whom are my best friends to this day. I also enjoyed learning about teamwork in keeping the chapter and house running smoothly by everyone doing their part … being an officer, chairing an activity, or supporting a philanthropic endeavor. Today: I am retired and enjoying all that Ann Arbor has to offer in lectures, concerts and theater. I volunteer at the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop, belong to Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, do some needlework REBECCA BANFIELD GAFFNEY, Past President Beta Epsilon 1966 (Michigan State University) BA Sociology/Social Work 1969 Career: I worked for 20 years in faculty support for the University of Michigan Business School. Best AXO Memory: Returning to beautiful MSU each fall - the AXO house on Burcham Drive - to renew old friendships and make new ones and get through another year together. In hindsight, the personal growth was enormous; learning how to get along living with 55 young women. That experience definitely helped prepare me for the real world. Mostly, it was a lot of fun. Today: I am retired and involved in several volunteer groups, including 1st Presbyterian Church. I love to travel and frequently go to visit my twin grandchildren in North Carolina. KATHY KARZEN VANDEWEGE Theta 1977 BA 1980 Career: I have taught tennis in the Ann Arbor community for the past 30 years. I have enjoyed instructing and coaching tennis to people of all ages and levels. I currently work at Chippewa Racquet Club and Washtenaw Community College. Best AXO Memory: Making friends who have become my best friends throughout my life. Today: I live in Ann Arbor with my husband Bud (who was my date for the AXO square dance!). We have 3 daughters, 2 out of college and pursuing their careers and 1 at University of Michigan who is also an AXO! |
